San Mateo, CA – Congressman Kevin Mullin (CA-15) released the following statement on Pride Month:

“Pride Month is upon us and while much progress has been made in the 54 years since the Stonewall Riots, members of our LGBTQ+ community continue to experience discrimination and suffer from acts of bigotry and hatred. To all those who have fought and continue to fight against discrimination, I support your efforts 100%.

“Throughout the month of June, a wide range of events from small community events to flag raisings to larger parades offer opportunities to celebrate the many contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to our world. Sadly, we also recognize that in spite of how far we have come, there are still undeniable threats to this community and some legislative bodies continue to find ways to limit their freedoms and subsequently place them at risk. This is unacceptable.

“I continue to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community today and every day. And while June is designated as Pride Month, we have an opportunity to show love, tolerance, compassion and respect every day. Happy Pride!”
