On Sunday, March 23, former Junipero Serra High School standout DJ Ghiorso’s current college team, the Loyola Marymount Lions, won 5-4 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the San Diego Toreros.
The game took place at George C. Page Stadium. This was their third matchup against the Toreros this season.
The Lions’ next game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 at 6 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Stadium against UCLA Bruins.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
These former San Mateo County area high school standouts will be competing during the week of Monday, Sept. 8.
