Three foodborne biological hazard citations were issued to Market Produce Sales, Inc. in South San Francisco after an inspection conducted Feb. 13 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), according to data available on the FDA’s website.
The FDA’s records show the following violations were cited at the company:
- ‘You did not develop an FSVP.’
- ‘You did not document that the foreign supplier is in, and under the regulatory oversight of, a country whose food safety system FDA has officially recognized as comparable or determined to be equivalent to that of the United States, and that the food is within the scope of FDA’s official recognition or equivalency determination before importing a food from a foreign supplier.’
- ‘You did not determine and document whether the foreign supplier of a food you imported is in good compliance standing with the food safety authority of the country in which the foreign supplier is located.’
The FDA regularly inspects facilities nationwide to ensure both workplaces and products adhere to FDA requirements designed to safeguard public health. Findings from these inspections are released to the public.
The FDA’s website states that the agency is responsible for overseeing the safety and quality of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical devices and tobacco products.
