On Tuesday, April 8, former Woodside High School standout Owen Crevelt’s current college team, the Wingate Bulldogs, won 10-8 in their NCAA Division II baseball game against the UNC Pembroke Braves.
The game took place at Sammy Cox Field. This was their second matchup against the Braves this season.
The Bulldogs’ next game is scheduled for Friday, April 11 at 4 p.m. at Ron Christopher Stadium against Catawba Indians.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
These former San Mateo County area high school standouts will be competing during the week of Monday, Sept. 8.
