On Saturday, April 5, former Carlmont High School standout Sarissa Block’s current college team, the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, won 7-0 in their NCAA Division II softball game against the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters.
The game took place at Pioneer Softball Field. This was their fourth matchup against the Otters this season.
The Pioneers’ next game is scheduled for Friday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at SFSU Softball Field against San Francisco State Gators.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
These former San Mateo County area high school standouts will be competing during the week of Monday, Sept. 8.
