Enrollment at San Mateo County Office of Education schools decreased by 29.8% compared to previous school year

San Mateo County Office of Education's schools enrolled 87 students in the 2022-23 school year, 29.8% less than the previous year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 62.1% of them were boys, and 36.8% were girls.

San Mateo County Office of Education covers five schools within San Mateo County with its main office in Redwood City.

Among the five schools in San Mateo County Office of Education, San Mateo County Special Education recorded the highest enrollment of 49 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and the Public Policy Institute of California expects it to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
