On Sunday, April 6, former The Nueva School standout Gabriel Ciechanover’s current college team, the Amherst Mammoths, won 5-1 in their NCAA Division III baseball game against the Tufts Jumbos.
The game took place at Memorial Field. This was their third matchup against the Jumbos this season.
The Mammoths’ next game is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9 at 3:30 p.m. at Bud and Jim Hagan Field against Westfield State Owls.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
These former San Mateo County area high school standouts will be competing during the week of Monday, Sept. 8.
